This special event benefits and raises awareness for the Mount Sinai SEPTO Program (Special Education Parent Teacher Organization). SEPTO supports students throughout the district by helping provide essential services, resources, and family support to ensure every child has the opportunity to succeed.
Through this tournament, we’re showing the power of community and what’s possible when we unite for a common cause. A longer look at some great rallies from our last singles tournament😤
A fun point that encapsulates the 3 possible phases of a pickleball point. While the serving team inherently starts on defense with the rules, the solid counter to my 3rd shot drive led to some backpedaling and attempting to reset. Once we got to the kitchen, the situation flipped pretty quickly, getting some higher balls to attack and put pressure on the opponent, who did a nice job setting back and resetting. This gets to the neutral side, or what I call “the beautiful game of pickleball” with all of us at the kitchen working hard to create any sort of advantage. Fortunately, on this point the pickleball gods did us a solid 🙌

FootWORK…….Want to improve at pickleball? Get a coach. Lose the ego. Drill. Work on your own. Video yourself. Focus on boring, but extremely important things like footwork.
Footwork has to be the most underrated technical aspect of pickleball and lack of good footwork will get exposed more and more as you level up.
Like me, you may know for the most part what good pickleball footwork looks like, but can’t quite commit it to muscle memory. I could use another lesson from one of the pros on thepickleballindex.com, but until then I’m shuffling every chance I get.

5 reasons in < 5 seconds we couldn’t get into this point…
1. @pickleballpellegrino hits a great, deep return to set the stage
2. The returner decides to drive crosscourt which is a dangerous play, especially if their 👇
3. Partner (moi) decides to creep in and maybe crash
4. And split steps too late
5. Returning team recognizes this and hits a great volley behind crashing partner
Takeaways:
1. Hit deep returns.
2. Don’t drive crosscourt unless it’s a perfect situation.
3. Stay patient and 4. under control as the partner of the person hitting the 3rd.
5. If you are the returning team and notice this, try volleying behind the crasher.
